It's a big weekend of sport, as the Wimbledon final nears and England vie to maybe, hopefully, potentially bring it home. We'll be watching from behind the sofa.
Aaron Bayne
I've been gagging to give it a go, so it'll be the Concord beta for me this weekend.
Issy van der Velde
This weekend I'm getting stuck into Cyberpunk 2077 again. I've had the itch for two weeks but had review commitments. Now I've got some free time I'm going to get lost in Night City's sprawling streets again.
Scott McCrae
I've beaten Metroid Prime 2 and have told myself it's finally time to get into Shadow of the Erdtree. So I'll be playing Balatro, Fights in Tight Spaces, and maybe a bit of Anger Foot this weekend!
Stephen Tailby
I have a couple of indie games I'm playing for review purposes, so expect to learn more about those soon. If I get time, I'd also really like to check out Concord's beta test.
That's what we're playing this weekend, then, but what about the rest of you? As always, you know what to do: let us know your lineup in the comments section below.

Starting kingdom come deliverance and continuing football manager 2024 I think.
Little bit of Concord and Sly Cooper.
Just finished Steel Rising...an enjoyable souls like but way too easy and lightweight with a good story
Gonna do another run through of Hellblade 2 which is fantastic though I fully understand it's criticisms but overall it's a stunner but not quite as good as the first game.
More GT7 which just gets better and better
Have a great weekend guys and gals ❤️
I think I’ll jump back on Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Play some Street Fighter 6 as well.
Just finished the excellent Still Wakes the Deep. Now not 100% sure what to play
@KingPev I loved the first Hell Blade. Hoping it's one of Microsofts exclusives that makes it's way to PS5 at some point
Luigi's Mansion 2: Ah, the old familiar places. Playing this calls to mind memories of my time with it on the 3DS, but truth be told it may as well be a new game entirely.
Sure, the mission structure is there, E. Gadd still calls you up way too often, and the ghosts are still as goofy as ever, but the graphical overhaul and fluidity of controls make all the difference in the world. This is Dark Moon not as you remember it, but as you would like it to have been, and it's spooktacular fun.
Plus Polterpup is as adorable as ever.
Rise of the ronin on ps5, driver on duckstation and half life 2 on my gaming lappytop.
Rise of the Ronin - So I´ve finally petted all the f-n cats 😅 I have some missions left and some cleaning up for the platinum, so I´ll probably give my final thoughts next week. Still fun to play, but the game is a bit too long and bloated imo. I´m normally immune to open world fatigue and long games, but this one is pushing me a bit. Still, breaking it up with other games helps 😊
Still wakes the deep - Finished it last weekend. Really enjoyed it, especially the voice acting which was top notch. The story was good but a bit predictable, the performance on my series S wasn’t great but still, very good game!
The First Descendant - This game really isn’t very good, but it has that little something that makes me keep playing it 🙂 Missions are very repetitive, but that means I can turn my brain off and just cruise around for some shooting and looting. There is a story, it looks decent, and gameplay is ok. Its really a mixed bag of games you´ve played before, but not necessarily better than any of them. So, again, not very good but pretty fun to play when I´m in that mood and its free. Just don’t blame me if you try it and hate it, I´ve warned you twice now its not very good 🫣😅
I've been going full retro recently so I'll be playing Pokemon Pinball and Pokemon Crystal on the Game Boy Color. Also picked up Professor Layton and the Lost Future and Ninja Gaiden Dragon Sword on the DS. As for PlayStation I may continue the ever-bizarre Final Fantasy 8 or start Alone in the Dark (2001). Happy weekend all and of course - it's coming home ⚽️ 😎
Trails through Daybreak for me - and I'm also starting up Skyrim again for what feels like the millionth time haha. Might actually play as one of the elves, as I've never done that before.
Happy weekend everyone!
Immersing myself in the world of Sandland, what a wonderful game. Then a little bit of Diablo 2.
I'll be continuing with The First Descendents, it's not a good game but it's scratching an itch I didn't know I had; that for early Warframe before it became an unmanageable mess.
I'm also going to give Concord a fair shake, I kinda dig the off-brand GoTG vibe
Shadow of The Erdtree final boss time. Just picked up Granblue Fantasy Relink so giving that a go
Since I heard the sequel is coming, I started last week and I'm continuing Life is Strange Remastered. I aim to platinum it, like the rest of the installments.
Other than that, there's not much else that interests me at the moment. Maybe Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn, which is coming out next week, but I'll wait for the reviews on that one.
It's all about the PS2 for me this weekend!
Ive started dipping my toe in to visual novels on the switch and have played a few demos. Still not sure they are for me or not. I prefer a VN with some slight gameplay element so ive started playing Dangonrompa trigger happy and finally got Famicom detective club after it never going on sale in the past few years. On PS5 ive started playing the Witcher 3 and am loving it so far. Cant play in graphics mode tho for some reason as i get a black flicking shadow all around the horizon.
I'm back on DA Inquisition after finishing DA2. The inquisitor isn't a patch on Hawke.
Also hoping to see this on Sunday night
🇪🇸 1 - 2 🏴
One-armed for a wee-while after having surgery yesterday, so gonna try Voice of Cards: The Isle Dragon Roars as I reckon it’ll be doable in my current state 🤕
When the weather and kids allow I will get my Portal and sit down the bottom of the garden next to the pond while being utterly consumed by Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. I am just in awe of that game and demand to know why it isn’t top ten in sales every week. If you are on the fence about this game trust me it’s the best Final game for a looong time
@Kidfunkadelic83 I also enjoy a gameplay element in visual novels on Switch. My favourites are AI the somnium files series, Ace Attorney series, Rain Code and Death Mark
@ApostateMage i pulled Spain out of the hat at work and im set to win a £100 if they win so as a non major football fan im quietly hoping that spain win 😂
Concord beta, Destiny 2 and then I'll pick something at random from my backlog to start - in no particular order. And after all of that... It's Coming Home!
Trails through Daybreak! There's also the small matter of it coming home.
@rusty82 ...Yeah loved the first one too. The 2nd is so cinematic and immersive and the combat is really hefty and visceral. Here's hoping it comes to PS5
@Bentleyma damn, that PS2 looks crispy!
@Tsushima ive got Ace and AI was one of the demo's i tried and quite enjoyed. Ive added alot to the watch list so i can pick them up in sales as some are quite expensive. I tried Witch in the holy night demo too but its more of a traditional visual novel and it didnt grip as much as the interactive ones do.
Pokemon Leaf Green as I have not yet finished it.
Starting new run in Bioshock 1 and I will try Super Mario 64.
I finally started Trails Of Cold Steel 3,about 4 years after finishing CS2.I'm about 14 hours into it so far and quite enjoying it.
I’m currently in the process of starting chained echoes whilst wishing for success for Spain. Sorry England, can’t support. 😂 (Signed proud Welshwoman)
Never a pen.
The Dutch were robbed. Southgate is the luckiest boy on this planet. Also, I'm playing Kingdom Come
Might get a little Persona 4 Golden in if I have time.
Finished Eiyuden Chronicles, it’s got its flaws, but I ended up liking it more than Octopath 2. Going to sink some more into Elden Ring until FF7 Rebirth comes tomorrow. Have a great weekend folks!
Erdtree, Shadow of the
Soccer, Pro Evolution
Been giving Concord a go and getting back to Helldivers a little too.
But mainly I'm playing Erdtree. Exploring is fun as always and I'm feeling pretty op with my new swords.
Every frame looks like the cover of a 1980s fantasy novel. I can't get enough.
It's probably the game of the gen for me.
On PS5 i will be playing some more of the Concord Beta, been having fun with it so far. I will also be playing Trails Through Daybreak and Tunic.
On Switch I will be playing Splatoon 3 as I usually do on Splatfest weekends, pretty much the only time I play the game now. I will also be playing Luigis Mansion 2 HD and Spy X Anya.
On 3DS I will be continuing with Professor Layton vs Phoenix Wright.
I’ve been catching up with one of my favorite gaming franchises and my favorite ps2 platforming franchise and that’s Ape Escape, with the third one being what I’m playing.
Now I always been a big AE bloke but truth be told, this entry outclasses the previous two so much that there’s no competition at all.
Now if you’ve never played this or you only know about the series for its monkey business shenanigans, you might be in for a surprise learning that one of its core defining features is the added Morph Gear, a mechanic utilizing various transformations with all sorts of themes like Mahou Shoujou, Arabian Nights, Cowboys and Ninjas just to name. There’s insane variety in your toolkit. I’m actually a big enthusiast of Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura, Madoka Magica and all the stuff so it was quite nice finding an actual video game that scratched that itch.
Now if you’re someone who’s just unfamiliar with Ape Escape as a WHOLE, then it’s basically Mario 64 with a ton of Zelda and I do mean a TON. That alone should sell you in my opinion.
If you’re interested as well, there’s a British English dub across the entire trilogy. American English as well but I don’t like the name changes. The female protagonist (oh yeah, there’s one now) is named Sayaka in EU/JP but Yumi in US… which is also a Japanese name…
The game is a jolly ol’ time, and yeah, now I should elaborate that there’s a new bloke in the block… a new female protagonist! I hugely welcome this, always a plus in any circumstance. (Though truth be told, it was a small headache watching every cutscene THRICE just to hear all voices, but it’s a lot of fun).
Happy gaming and g’day. ✌️
Scars Above 😐 , Don't ALL Shout At Me lol
After finishing Elden Ring DLC last weekend I started Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart for a change of pace. Not my usual type of game but it's fun. Very short though, would be annoyed if I paid £70 for it. So I'm going to finish that and clear up the platinum.
Some GT7 as usual, then maybe I'll get back to FF7 Rebirth, as I stopped playing at chapter 2.
I will be playing the amazing watch dogs 2.marcus Holloway is a cool protagonist.one of the best i ever play as.the graphics.the gameplay.the story.the soundtract.and the gameplay is phenomenal.i will continue playing the awsome just cause 3.i will continue playing the incredible doom 2016.and i will continue playing the excellent prey.i will be watching legendary sitcoms tv 📺 comedy shows in good times.the Jeffersons.sanford and son and saved by the bell.word up son
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare campaign, and Everybody's Gone To The Rapture. Enjoying both!
Continuing to embrace the weirdness that is Death Stranding on the PS5. Just made it to Chapter 6 so roughly half way through. Have a good weekend all, happy gaming and Come on England!
Nothing rewatching BLEACH
Gt7 and EA sports wrc and I've been playing an hour or 2 of the first descendant to break the petrol fumes up..have a brilliant weekend everybody 👍
Finished
Playing
Paused
Backlog
batman arkham knight and all DLC was on sale for PC for only $1.99!!! You’d have to be a fool to resist that; I bought it even though i already own it on playstation and 100%’d it twice . It plays and looks so good on PC , almost as if it’s a different game! but the problem is that i’ve already played it so much so i don’t want to waste my time 😭
illl just play American Truck Simulator that was also dirt cheap. I’m honestly hyped about playing it since i always thought the trucker life was dope
Ys Memories of Celceta for me. I became a massive fan of the Ys games after picking up Oath of Felghana a few years ago on PSP. They're the sort of games that just remind me why I love videogames. Sure, the game engine may be dated and it looks like a PS2 game, but it's made with such love and charm that it's difficult to resist.
Still intending to start Falcom's Trails games at some point - they're on my list!
Also finished Tomb Raider Underworld and Planet of Lana this last week. Both enjoyable. My 12 year old daughter is playing Planet of Lana now and having a blast with it.
I will finish Jusant this weekend, very chill and just a lovely change of pace for me.
And maybe play/finish off AC Mirage if I get time and the urge to do so.
Then I can get back to Starfield next week, which i've decided to play a "chapter" at a time with other games to break it up a bit, a chapter being a faction or planet based quest chain, as I'm not pushing further into the main quest, as such.
FUS-RO-STARRRR
@rusty82 yeah crazy to think it initially was a PS4 exclusive even, and now it's Xbox owned. I can imagine it coming to other platforms though, as it was expensive to make and wasn't a commercial hit on limited platforms, seems like a logical fit to go multiplat.
Started Borderlands 3 this week, love this franchise. I will play more Final Fantasy XVI, some Uncharted 2 and Dave The Diver. Preparing some free time and hard drive space for new games, soon, finally haha!!
Went back to Rebirth. It was just too much and too long for my taste, but now I’ve been away I’m ready to finish up the last three chapters.
Otherwise it is the usual: More wandering in Rise of the Ronin, seasons in MLB the Show 24, and Zenless Zen Zero with maybe some First Descendant in there.
I love ZZZ but Descendant is easily more my style of sci fi space shooter.ZZZ is definitely a great mix of action and Persona too.
Overall lots to play! Oh and Shadow of the Erdtree too!!
"It's coming home?" Yep.
Still Shadow of the Erdtree.
On my Xbox I'm playing Aliens Fireteam with a mate, and when I get a chance, I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3 doing a Dark Urge run on Tactician difficulty (though truthfully, I'm struggling to do anything evil. It's just not in my nature! 😂).
On my PC, I'm playing Baldur's Gate 3 with a mate in a duo run, and also have a trio run ongoing with yet another mate. So in all, I have three different games of BG3 on the go.
Both my PS5 and Switch are sat idle at the moment.
Baldur's Gate 3 is pretty much still taking up all my game time, and I love it...
@mac_da_man I feel the same way about First Descendant. It does nothing that Warframe didn’t already do, but it’s like a good popcorn flick. I can game, podcast listen, and let my monkey brain enjoy the simplicity of it all.
Thing is, @Specky, I agree it was a soft penalty, but both the pundits, and a professional referee friend of mine, have said that it would have been a classed as a foul, and thus a free-kick, anywhere else on the pitch, and therefore it follows that it would be a penalty if it occurred in the box.
Soft, yes, but still a penalty in todays game...
Halfway through The Callisto Protocol. It's been really fun so far.
Finished:
Playing:
Classified France '44 and Grid Legends.
Trails through Daybreak primarily. That game has been really fantastic so far. Falcom doesn't miss!
I'm also playing the Concord beta. It's an interesting one. I'm very much in the middle on it. I don't hate it but I'm also not fully on board either. The gameplay is solid. The characters are varied but I got to say the only one I kinda like is the guy with the hat that heals. Javaldi or something? Can't remember his name but he's cool. The rest of the cast is just kind of whatever.
I'll keep playing the beta for the weekend but at the moment it's a "I like it but I don't think I'd buy it" sort of game.
@Fiendish-Beaver
Saka passed the ball to Kane with his hands... Besides that it was the softest pen ever. Gary Neville called it a disgrace and other pundits agree so...
Assassin's Creed Valhalla: Dawn of Ragnarok
Making my way through the game's DLC that I bought but never played. Now onto Dawn of Ragnarok, which I started early in the week, so I'm not that far along yet. I'm enjoying it so far. I like how each dwarf shelter has it's own little story arc attached to it.
@Specky soft pen for sure but the better team still won...
I'm playing through The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. The 3D Zelda games are mostly great, and this one is no exception.
I also picked up Forza Horizon 4 in a recent sale. That's being delisted near the end of this year due to licensing issues, so now seemed like as good a time as any for me to finally get it. Plus, I was in the mood for some racing anyway.
The Legend of Heroes: Trails through Daybreak. I’m three chapters deep and it’s excellent. Van is the best protagonist this series has ever had. I’m looking forward to diving deeper into it once I get more free time.
Finished Sea of Stars yesterday. I'm glad I played it & had a nice time with it, but for me, it falls into the "Games I've finished once & will never play again" category. Which is better than "Games I regret purchasing"!
Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (3DS) - I rage quit this back in the day. I'm determined to get through it this time.
Uncharted: Golden Abyss (Vita) - Made it to chapter three, making slow and steady progress.
Microsoft Bingo (Windows Phone) - Plodding away with this still...
I’m trying to clear some older games before Visions of Mana comes out next month. Right now it’s Castlevania: Lords of Shadow on Steam Deck. Konami needs to bring this one forward to PS5. It was beautiful on PS3/360 but it runs even better on my Steam Deck OLED locked at 60fps w/ all the bells and whistles on. Have a great weekend!
Spider-man Remastered and GT7 on my PS5 (both are a treat for the eyes). On ROG Ally: Burnout Revenge and Persona 3 FES. Also, I bought the PSPlay app for my Ally and can use it as a better version of the PS Portal. Great time to be a gamer, I tell ya. Go England and go Argentina!
Sorry guys but it's still going on... I'm still playing Dragon's Dogma 2 😂
Almost done with Resident Evil Village. Reeeally enjoyed my time playing. Will also play some Street Fighter 6 in the battle hub
@Deljo
Dutch scored first half and were better second half. English the opposite, so I'd say it was even
Still have a ton of work to do on the house. I don't know if I'll get any opportunities to play. If I do, it'll be Stellar Blade and the demo for Dragon's Dogma II.
Elden Ring, Sifu, Animal Well and WRC, which I bought this week. So Eiyuden Chronicle is on hold apparently.
Haven’t been able to play as much this week as have had other events on and just about to start a new job:
Switch: The Messenger - at the most frustrating point of any Metroidvania - I’m out of available roots, so just backtracking through them all again to see what I’ve missed. Trying to do it without using the hints system
PS5: Sifu - really gotten into the combat system now - got to the CEO and played through the levels again to reduce my age. Anyone know if Sekiro would be a good game to play next as in this combats mood
@get2sammyb If England win tomorrow then Gareth should appear on every thumbnail for the next week.
Giving Concord a go and… uh… two birthday parties and a funeral, so there’s my weekend.
Trying to finish up Robocop.
Picked up Avatar on sale and might try Concord
Definitely trying to make some progress in Rebirth this weekend. Looking at Dragonquest 3 Remake footage has me slightly disappointed with it but also wanting to play it so I might jump back into Star Ocean 2 Remake instead 😅
Have a good weekend yall!
Giving Concord a go and actually surprisingly enjoying it
As I said, it was soft, @Specky. However, even Neville contradicted himself because he said it would have been a foul (and a freekick) outside the box. It cannot possibly be a foul in one part of the pitch, but not the other.
The way I look at it is would the English have felt aggrieved if this had been awarded against them? Absolutely they would. However, would the Dutch have felt it was a penalty had it happened to them in our penalty box? Yes, they would! It was one of those decisions that was going to divide fans along Country lines. Yes, it was soft, and I'm glad I was not the one making the decision. In all honesty, I thought it was harsh because the Dutch player raised his leg to block the shot, and Kane kicked his studs. So I didn't think it was a foul. However, my friend (who was a professional referee) explained why it was a penalty, and I have to accept his interpretation of the rules as he is an expert, whereas I am but a numpty...
Still roaming around Ancient Greece in ASSASSIN’S CREED : Odyssey. Pretty close to the platinum for it but still have about half the DLC’s to do yet.
@nomither6 finished all the batman trilogy on ps4 long time ago. And I bought all the collection again for my steam deck. This game never get old. And it’s look so good on deck oled. Arkham origins kinda nice too(really love deathstroke boss fight)
@SolarSpirit86 Hahahaha I played that game around its launch. I enjoyed it for the first few hours but it quickly became stale and showed how low budget it really was. Not a good game by any means but nowhere nearly as bad as Quantum Error. Now THAT is a terrible game and one to be avoided at all costs!!!
Mainly P3 Reload and Ghost of Tsushima.
With a bit of Cult of the Lamb, Dark Cloud, Dragon’s Dogma and Returnal
Still plugging away at Shin Megami Tensei V's platinum. Supplementing with some Concord, NHL 24, and Zenless
@DETfaninATL agreed
PS4:
WipEout Omega Collection (I just got the Platinum trophy but am still improving my online ranking)
PS5:
Super Bomberman R2 (Playing online to unlock all the cosmetic junk that I can as well as gathering trophies)
PS Plus Essential:
Streets of Rage 4
PS Plus Extra:
Monopoly Plus
PS Plus Premium:
Star Wars Racer Revenge
I’m on a kickboxing coaching course this weekend. 2 x 8 hour days so that will leave very little time for any gaming. If I do get a bit of time, it’ll be spent on shadow of the erdtree.
@AdamNovice Done!
@Fiendish-Beaver don’t think it should have been a foul anywhere on the pitch. Football really is poor these days. BUT that’s the rules now so it is what it is.
I’ll be playing a bit of concord, f1 2024, gt7 and some ff rebirth.
Baldur’s Gate 3 & Astro’s Playroom on the PS5 and The Witcher 3 on the Switch
@amatmulisha how many times have you beat them all?
also origins is my favorite
Alone in the Dark only a few hours in and It's pretty good not very scary but still enjoyable.
Just finished up Cyberpunk and Phantom Liberty after starting that game about 2 and a half years ago. Glad I played it but happy to have it crossed off my backlog. I’ve entered the final chapter in Jedi Survivor today so I’ll be finishing that up this weekend. Next week I’ll be focusing on making some progress in Yakuza 3 and recently picked up MW3 (2023) so I could play the OG MW2 maps again. Nostalgia got me on this one. I really prefer the gunplay in CoD over XDefiant but I prefer the movement and color palette of XDefiant. Guess I’ll be playing both for awhile for my FPS fix.
