Ys X: Nordics now has a confirmed release date on PS5 and PS4. Falcom's action RPG launches on the 25th October, which means that it's surrounded by heavy hitters like Metaphor: ReFantazio (11th October), Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake (14th November), and Assassin's Creed Shadows (15th November). The last few months of 2024 are looking really busy.
Ys X launched in Japan last year, where it was well received. Although it still has the series' frantic hack-and-slash gameplay at its core, Nordics serves up some interesting additions, like naval battles. Longtime protagonist Adol is also joined by a young warrior named Karja, as the game adopts a dual-hero approach. In combat, you can switch freely between the two leads, and then pair them up to perform devastating team attacks.
Will you be setting sail with Ys X this October? Make sure to time those dodge rolls correctly in the comments section below.

Oof launching around so many other JRPGs is not a good idea. Going to suffer on PS and PC with most JRPG people going for Metaphor or DQ.
On Switch I don't see this doing as well with DQ coming out around same time.
The games are cheaper though so maybe they don't need to sell as many units.
One month after Kai no Kiseki releases in Japan and 4 months after we got Trails through daybreak Falcom is busy this year.
I remember playing Wanderers from Ys on the SNES. It was very different than the RPGs I was accustomed to. When I played Oath of Felghana on the PSP decades later I had no idea it was a remake. I'm amazed at how this series is still kicking around. This one looks like it actually has some interesting mechanics--I may give it a go.
So many JRPGS so little time. Be carrying into 2025 for me
Day 1 for sure!
I won't be playing it anywhere near release, but given how a lot of these JRPGs seem to go out of print within several months after release, I will likely buy it fairly quickly to make sure I have a copy whenever I end up playing it.
The trail stuff keeps coming, the Ys stuff won’t stop, Falcom firing on all cylinders.
I played the demo and it feels...okay i guess? and Ys IX also kinda okay'ish although it feels a lot less solid compare to Ys VII or VIII.
So, this one is not a day one for me.
of all the games mentioned in this article, ys is the day one for me.
Oh wow... the backcatalog will continue to grow. I still got 8 and 9 to go through.
SAO Fractured Daydream, new Fantasy Life, Metaphor Re Fantazio and now Ys X in the same month 😭
Well I've already played DQ3 several times and Metaphor: ReFantazio being on a time limit is massively off-putting, so of the JRPGs mentioned above, this is by far the one I'm most looking forward to.
Aww, so far away.
Limited Editions available as well

@PuppetMaster I know what you mean. YS VIII genuinely felt so damn responsive and fast paced, while YS IX was a bit of a downgrade. Seems like YS X is continued with this slow speed.
Very noice. I got the limited edition last year in Japan (for cheaper cause NISA UK postage costs to Australia suck lmao). Then I'll just pick up a digital copy using my PS points (I got enough for the $30 voucher)
@GilgaMax96 Yeah that's it. It looks like they traded speed and control with bigger world, which i'm not sure why Falcom did it when the selling point of Ys is fast pace combat with tight control. If it's LoH then sure they can make bigger world since the combat is turn based.
Ys is the best long-running JRPG franchise that no one ever mentions in discussions about best long-running JRPG franchises.
Ys games are always fun.ys so its all good.word up son
I'm so ready for this. Like many others, I only got into the series with Ys VIII, but it's quickly become one of my favourite JRPG franchises.
Played Origin, Celceta, VIII and IX so far and they're all good to great. Can't wait for this one, and then Oath in Felghana early next year. I just hope Nihon Falcom gets the success in the West that they deserve.
@Ainu20 I came to the series late, too. Did actually buy Celceta for my Vita back in 2014, but only played the first few hours.
Was 2021 when I got a PSP that I played Oath in Felghana for the first time and was floored by it. Have since played Celceta, Origin, Ys I & II (PSP versions) and VIII, with Ark of Napishtim, Seven and XI on my to-do list (though will likely play X first at this point).
Such a great series.
Not sure on this one the thing is so much games to buy and catch up on. Especially probably going to pick up Kai a month before.
Between Dragon’s Dogm II, Dragon Age, and Ys. How am I supposed to decide what to play? Not to mention a new Mana is also coming. As an RPG I’m overwhelmed! I’m still finishing Horizon: Forbidden West, God Of War, and Jedi: Survivor. What a time!
