Robocop: Rogue City - not really an fps fan (I’d rather every game be in third person tbh) but I love the movie (careful not to say movies), and the game looks incredibly nostalgic.
Beyond Good and Evil. I bought it for PS5, but then I decided to buy it on the Nintendo Switch as well because I’m going on vacation soon, and wouldn’t mind playing the game on the go. Lol.
@Th3solution I'm aware of how popular they appear to be so it definitely could have been worse! I've never played one so I'll definitely give them a shot at some point. It was $15 I think so not too bad.
@colonelkilgore I liked Robocop, and Terminator before that. They're a jankfest, but the devs have an undeniable handle on what makes them special in a nostalgic sense. I'd like to see them take on something else like Predator, Rambo, Escape from New York, Blade Runner, Judge Dredd, or something else. So many iconic characters to take on. I'd be eager to play any of those.
@Malaise They did make a "Rambo" game- it's an on rails shooter a bit like "Time Crisis" (I believe it was compatible with the PS Move controllers on the PS3) and it was completely atrocious.
PS It must've had a low print run or something because PS3 copies are going for silly money on eBay.
@LN78 Yeah, I know of it. I was thinking more along the lines of what made Robocop and Terminator fun games. Understanding the characters and getting that all-important nostalgia in. As a killing machine whose personal trauma is what made the character, Rambo might not be the best option for them. I'd be excited about an Escape from New York game, though!
@Malaise I'd definitely go for a "Dredd" game made in the same spirit - the fact that they so perfectly captured the tone of the original "Robocop" movie was what was so impressive about that effort - "made by fans for fans" wasn't just vacuous advertising spiel. That the gameplay itself was pretty by the numbers didn't end up mattering that much - it was the game I'd been waiting for since I was 9 years old.
@Malaise yeah I’d love games based on all of those tbh… oh to play as Snake Plisskin in particular 🙏
edit. actually the thought of Kurt in a Carpenter movie just automatically led my mind to Big Trouble in Little China. A game based on that would be the dream!
Despite buying quite a few games lately, I've become increasingly disillusioned with gaming at large for a variety of reasons, I'd been low-key toying with the idea of selling my PS5. And I probably would have if I didn't think my partner would immediately buy it back and beat me around the head with it.
Anyway, long story short, while a lot of summer announcements and upcoming games do look interesting, most of them left me kind of ho-hum until Farming Simulator 25 was announced the other day. So I went ahead and pre-ordered it. Very excited for it!
Hopefully my disillusionment can dissipate somewhat and I can re-establish some love for my 35+ year hobby. I doubt I'll be making any more pre-orders, but I'll throw a few things in the wishlist and keep a keen eye on sales.
@Malaise I have been feeling exactly the same. Since before Xmas I’ve just been in a funk, I had a brief moment of relief with Still Wakes the Deep, but I have draw full of sealed PS5 games. Just can’t be arsed, and I’m gutted. Hope things improve for you 👍
@Malaise Sorry to hear that. I actually had to sell my PS5 due to low-usage (post-pandemic travel for work, back to 70% time away from home) and was devastated at the time.
I used the money to buy a Steamdeck, and this changed things up for me. Of course I was/am missing the 5* AAA graphical powerhouse games, but found it opened up a number of genres as well as playing some recent titles fairly well.
Switching of genres really got me out of a funk, and I've been playing a lot more rogue and puzzle games. I played Coccon recently and loved it, alongside a number of old-school adventure Point&Click games (like Monkey Island). I found that P&C games challenge me enough, but are also relaxing due to 'reaction time' not being critical.
That being said I am currently playing Erdtree, which is quite stressful!
But ultimately I'd say to take a break, consider 'why' you game and what you want from the hobby, then pick genres that lean into that narrative.
Wishing you well in the meantime. It is never nice when you get disillusioned and/or burnt out on something you previously enjoyed. Maybe watch some films/TV or read books, or even look at a new hobby with your partner? Gaming won't be going anywhere, and will be waiting for you once you're ready to return
@AgentCooper I appreciate the sentiment, and hopefully things turn around for you, too! I admire your resolve in continuing the Game Club, despite your gaming, uh, malaise, ahem.
@CJD87 Some great points there and I'm intrigued by the Steamdeck. I enjoy quite a few things that would translate well, such as management, strategy, turn-based things. I recently finished a Voice of Cards (first game I've completed in months) game which also would have worked well. Maybe a little time off would help, thanks for the suggestions!
@Ravix Haha, that does, indeed, look great! I completely missed it in the poll the other day. It's definitely going to get played at some point. Genuinely looking forward to it.
@colonelkilgore they mentioned me the other day in a KCD2 comment which I try to make as often as possible, myself 😅 But now I feel completely oblivious to a totally different forum game that's afoot 😭😂
When it seems you're out of luck.

Maybe I'm just being dense or over tired, but you've gone completely over my head haha. The only thing I can glean from the phrase in a forum based setting would be a new account for an old user, beyond that, I'm totally lost as I barely take note of the goings on here, and if it's not that, then it has gone even further over my head. Was there trouble in the before-fore? Or am I just missing a basic joke because I'm stupid today, of which there is a very good chance i've just misinterpreted the phrase 😁
