Valorant Is Another Free PS5 FPS with a Rubbish Trophy List

Free trophies.. I'm down

Trophies are a nice bonus and nothing more for me.

Tbf Valorant has generally been really weird about using a lot of the Playstation features in the name of parity. The game isn't even well received online.

I think they just handed Concord an admittedly minor win there tbh.

This game requires a Riot account to even play it. I assume there will be the same uproar Arrowhead got for Helldivers 2 online 😏

I never really understood why Platinum trophies are a big deal. I don't mind having trophies, but it's weird how some people seem to be more interested in getting some arbitrary achievements than playing the game just for the fun of it.

Which part of "PSN not available in 170+ territories" are you not understanding?

Using a VPN also goes against Sony's TOS which can result in a complete ban.

And to be clear I'm in UK and have both a PS5 and PC so it doesn't effect me. However, I don't take pleasure in the misfortune of others.

It's the same in some other F2P titles, like Apex Legends. I think they want the players to be addicted to the Battlepass grind and the FOMO aspect of limited time events and store items, not to a more limited trophy list.

Having a big trophy list might make some players feel done with the game after the platinum and they don't want that - you're gonna play this game forever!

it’s not a big deal if a PvP live-service doesn’t have trophies, who cares. if somebodies playing PvP competitive games for trophies only , then id think they’re just trophy hunting for any game that they can get their hands on, rather than actually having any interest in the PvP factor or gameplay itself

F2P games having a platinum or not doesn't bother me, even when they have ridiculous trophies that can only be earned through hundreds of gameplay hours. It's the nature of live service games, I suppose.
But I do have an issue with games I've already got the platinum for suddenly saying "52% complete" because the devs have added, months or even years later, some random DLC I'm not interested in purchasing and it's not counted separately.

Definitely of the opinion there should be a platinum. Apex Legends should've had one back in the beginning. But as for Valorant, it's a breath of fresh air. Enjoying it a LOT.

hyberpole aside, it is a PvP game & not a one and done single player, so yeah the devs want people to play for a while. people looking for (good) trophies or platinums in a game that’s free to play & PvP only are being delusional . achieving things you can actually use in-game is much better than a .png image obscured away into your account

@Mustoe I totally get that and it's a valid complaint, but the majority were moaning just about the PSN requirement even though they were from a supported county.

I couldn't care less about Trophies for any game.

I never understood the appeal of trophies/achievements in the first place. They could disappear today, and I really wouldn't care.

I think if you’re going to have a trophy list you need a platinum. Just seems dumb to make trophies and not do a plat. Just don’t do them at all at that point imo.

Platinum trophy should be granted to those, who completed game and everything it contains.

Because FtP and GaaSes don't have whole content available in game from beginning, they shouldn't have Platinum.

Also developers don't understand how it works and rather than making trophies about exploration, collections and completions, they rather make trophies about meaningless grinding and repeating.

Strikes me the whole debacle is just another excuse for console only gamers to lay the boot into the PC community.

So, you're telling me that you'll actually get trophies in a online FPS competitive game naturally, just by playing the game, instead of losing your focus by doing things that can negatively impact your team just to get a trophy??? Yeah...what a bummer...

@UltimateOtaku91 PlayStation gamers don't have problem with, PC gamers do. It's not that hard concept to understand.

Also, primary problem with Helldivers 2 was that Sony wanted to force PSN requirement 3 months after release. Because as you can saw there wasn't so much fuss about PSN requirement for Ghost of Tsushima Legends, Ragnarok and Concord outside of fact that PSN is not supported in 100s of countries.

It gets millions a day. Its well received. Unless you mean console only but even then im sure its fine. I like it a lot and I dont play any of the free shooters out there.

All games should have challenges and tasks given by the devs as it’s just more game to play. Whether you call them Trophies, Achievements, or whatever, is not important.

If a game doesn't have a platinum I won't play it. If they're too lazy to add a platinum it makes me assume the rest of the game was lazily made as well.

From what I've heard and experienced. The console version is going down a storm. It's been adapted really well by Riot.

It doesn't matter to me that much really but I am curious as to why a lot of F2P games I've played have trophies but no platinum. I'd assumed all of them didn't due to Sony making some rule but there are some free games that do?

Free online games almost never have fun/reasonsble trophy lists. Not that I actually play online games anymore 😂😂

No platinum I didn't even notice, I was to busy learning the game and having fun.

I do find some trophies interesting especially if I notice a trophy popped for something really rare that I didn't intentionally do.

I have 3 platinum trophies 2 of them came from just completing episodes of a telltale game and the other was from Spider-Man. The Spider-Man I completed because most of it were just simple task that I enjoyed doing.

The Finals has a platinum so it’s not like it doesn’t happen with other F2P games

I don't care how many platinums do you have, but what games you have them from.
