@Kidfried Sorry just got to this. Glad you like him! I've not heard any of this Kaitlyn, at least not intentionally. Just cued some up on Spotify for tomorrow though so will have a listen and let you know!

I can (and have earlier) recommended Proem, I always end up going back to him. A lot of these experimental artists can be a bit hard to get into (Autechre, Clark, Square Pusher etc), you have to almost clear your schedule and listen for 45 minutes to get your head in the right gear, but Proems tunes always have such awesome melodies, it's easy to drop into.

Trentmoller is pretty good too. Just for kicks.

@kyleforrester87 Trentmoller is great! Never heard of Proems, but I'm going to give it a try. What did you think of Kaitlyn?

Also, new song of the week: Leon Vynehall - Envelopes (Chapter VI). It's epic crossover of classical and electronic. https://youtu.be/JsDdBsDkePo

A lot of people on here seem to like rock and metal, try Still Warm by John Scofield if you want to hear some jazz with a heavy rock influence. Protocol is blistering.

Can anyone recommend a good Nels Cline album? I got Currents, Constellations by his current group and it's amazing, I want to hear more of his work.

@draco-n-eliptic1 his jazz music specifically? Because I love him as guitarist for Wilco on their Star Wars album.

@Kidfried Yeah I would prefer jazz recommendations. I will check out the Star Wars album though

Any Steely Dan fans out there? I just got Donald Fagen's 'Morph The Cat' and it's great, it's even better than Aja in my opinion, and that's saying something. Once Fagen turned his back on the world of the Steelies, albeit temporarily, and by that I just mean when he was producing his own material, he was free to let his jazz rock perfectionism soar, unrestrained to new heights of epic glory.

Heilung are really impressing me at the moment. I don't know what it is, but it's ace.
Black Sabbath are the greatest band of all time, of course. So anything that sounds usually like. l also enjoy stuff like The Mars Volta, Mastodon, Floyd, Opeth.
I really like Kendrick Lamar, old stuff like Onyx, Snoop, DMX etc, and Kanye West just because his albums are great even if he isn't.
I've been listening to a group called Clown Core as well lately. They're possibly evil and will definitely make most people feel a bit uneasy. I'm not sure I like it, but it's better than most current pop music.

@Clutch_Nixon I listen to a lot of Kendrick Lamar too, he's one of the best around right now.

@Clutch_Nixon Do you think Mastodon's music (excluding Emperor Of Sand) that was released after Crack The Skye is better than the material they put out before, or vice versa?

@Kidfried Kendrick is a rare beast. He's accessible, authentic, and didn't run out of steam upon success. That's almost impossible in hip hop.
@draco-n-eliptic1 though I wouldn't call anything they've done "bad", I don't really like anything after once more round the sun. Crack the Skye was a definite high point for me. Emperor of sand was different, but didn't really do much for me.

@Clutch_Nixon Yeah me too, well one of them was awesome but most were not. It's fun if you have the time.
