As has been well documented, the first few months of this year were utterly packed with new games to the point where the rest of 2024 was looking a little bit barren by comparison. But now that we're hurtling towards the second half of the year, we thought we'd sit down and actually take stock of what's on the horizon.
Fortunately (and unfortunately for all of our bank accounts), the rest of the year's PS5 release schedule has really taken shape. A lot of this is down to Summer Game Fest and its surrounding events giving us a bunch of dates, and when written down, the schedule is now looking nice and busy. Perhaps even a bit too busy at times.
Alongside a load of big budget, heavy hitters like Black Myth: Wukong, Astro Bot, Dragon Age: The Veilguard, Silent Hill 2, Metaphor: ReFantazio, Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, Assassin's Creed Shadows, and LEGO Horizon Adventures, there are so many slightly smaller titles to take note of. A slew of high profile expansions are in the mix as well.

It's a lot of games, innit? And the thing is, this list will only grow over the next few months or so, as the rest of Q4 inevitably gets filled out.

Don't forget YS X:Nordics
No exclusive games though, except maybe Adtro Bot? Unless I am mistaken...
In any case I will check Silent Hill 2 and the new Life is Strange game closer to their releases, I am a fan of both series.
Edit: I was obviously talking of true exclusives, even timed like Rebirth, Spidey 2 or Stellar Blade.
I’d be surprised (pleasantly so) if Lost Soul Aside released this side of New Years!
And we’ve already gotten 4 great, PS exclusive games this year!
Like i said, PS4/5 owners are still eating good this year. Just look at these games, i probably only get Kunitsu-Gami, Visions of Mana, Metaphor, Slitterhead, Astro Bot, and Wolf Among Us 2 if it's really coming out this year.
@belmont PlayStation console Exclusives are Silent Hill 2, Astro Bot, Lost Soul Aside, Enotria the Last Song, Zenless Zone Zero, and Concord.
Games on PS5/Switch but not Xbox are YS X Nordics, Lego Horizon and Trails through Daybreak.
Also Black Myth Wukong is now a timed exclusive.
The second half of the year is starting to look good. Astro Bot, LEGO Horizon Adventures, Star Wars Outlaws, and Indiana Jones (Xbox) are the big games for me. I might even give Black Ops 6 a go since it’ll be on GamePass.
But it’s looking good for the PS5. Glad more creative and silly fun titles like Astro Bot and LEGO Horizon Adventures get time to shine this fall.
@UltimateOtaku91 Don't those games have PC or PS4 versions though? I was mainly talking of something like Rebirth or Stellar blade...
I'm at 4 or 5, which is 4 or 5 more than I thought when I clicked on the article, so that's pretty good for me. 😂
Cat Quest 3
Astrobot
Visions of Mana
Plucky Squire
Lego Horizons
I would have probably attempted to play the Elden Ring dlc if my kid were getting it on the PS5, where we bought them the game for their birthday when it released, but they've since moved on to PC gaming so they'll be getting it there and I won't be playing it.
@belmont You should have clarified that, because now it just looks like you're moving the goalpost.
FFXIV: Dawntrail and Astro Bot are Day 1 for me. Rest depends on reviews, but most of those prolly wont be Day 1 purchases.
cat quest 3 for me😎🤣 hoping we get ender magnolia, tails of iron 2 and biomorph this year too 😂😭
Yeah Lost Soul Aside is not coming out this year 😅
@Enuo Yeah, you are right. I have already edited my original post. To be honest it was easy to forget that the meaning of "exclusive game" is not the same as it was easy n previous generations
@belmont I think Trails through Daybreak and YS X Nordics have PS4 versions and the rest have PC versions apart from Astro Bot. But if you're a console only player then PS5 is looking packed this year.
This looks like a healthy lineup to me, even if most of it aren’t necessarily exclusive to PS5. I’m looking forward to Astro Bot, Sonic X Shadow Generations, and Quidditch Champions. Maybe Monopoly, too (Yeah, I’m actually fond of that game…).
@UltimateOtaku91 Yeah, Daybreak was released as a 100% PS4 exclusive back in 2021! In fact I have already played it but I would recommend it only if you are a trails fan. And I haven't looked but due to company policy I am sure that the new YS could be in PS4
A "Light Year" for gaming right?
I think I best start saving, games I'm getting day one are going to be
Metaphor Re Fantazio
YS X Nordics
Visions of Mana
Spy X Anya
Astro Bot
Trails through Daybreak
Lego Horizon
Concord
Silent Hill 2
Dragon Age the Veilguard
Slitterhead
Reynatis
Black Myth Wukong
SMT Vengeance
Monster Hunter Stories
Astrobot and Metaphor are the only two that really grab me, but I'm more than happy with that as it gives me time to play unicorn overlord and god of war Ragnarok!
Astrobot and Final Fantazio and maybe Dragon Age later on for me!
My schedule is:
June:
Still Wakes the Deep (Gamepass)
Erdtree
July:
Nothing currently
August:
Rugrats
Black Myth
September:
Quidditch (PS+)
Astrobot
October:
Dragon Ball Sparking Zero
Life is Strange Double Exposure
November:
Assassin’s Creed Shadows
Avowed (rumored, Gamepass)
December:
Indiana Jones (rumored, Gamepass)
And I’m leaving a little room, hoping for some fun with the Nintendo Direct. If that bombs, I might try to squeeze Silent Hill 2 and Visions of Mana in if they review well. Maybe Metaphor. Hoping Lost Records, Plucky Squire, Silksong, and Mina the Hollower launch this year too, though if they all do, man, I’m booked. Once August hits, we’re eating good.
Yeah im still chilling and playing my backlogs of games.so many other games are coming.word up son
Aaand, my backlog just keeps piling up (and wallet keeps getting thinner)
anyone who says this is the worst gaming generation ever, clearly has been playing the wrong games. Theres so much games its hard to keep up
And dont forget guys, xbox games will be added for sure (Hellblade for me) so...get your wallets ready 🤪
I think Enotria (Italian Souls) was delayed to Autumn or something 🤔
1st party isn't super great but end of the day i also play and love 3rd party and indie games so yeah i'm very excited for the rest of 2024 that so far had been solid in my opinion. Black Myth and AC Shadows are my most hyped games for the rest of the year and i'm just counting the days till Elden Ring's expansion finally drops.
@ArcadeHeroes Not to mention, the amount of indie games coming out, especially for those who are tired of the same formulaic AAA games.
While we are lacking when it comes to 1st party titles but IMO, the 3rd part games coming out are already enough to last us for the next 2-3 years.
People just really love to complaint about pretty much anything sadly
I was going to make the comment "don't forget Starfield 😛"
But then I saw you literally forgot Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, for shame.
I mean there 8 or so games on the PS side I’m interested in getting though probably 80 in my backlog so maybe I shouldn’t!
If only I had the time…
Don't forget My Name Is Mayo 4.
Seriously, it's been a bad year as shown in that list.
The whole year has been frankly . Anyone saying otherwise is mad! Mad as a Mexicans dog!
Shadow of the erd tree and Metaphor for me.
Splitterhead and Dragon age are on my maybe list, I want to want them but so far I'm not sold.
Don’t forget Parcel Corps, which I believe is out the same day as HP Quidditch.
Only 2 games on that list worth any interest...
I only interested with these 3rd party kids games on PS5.
Cat Quest 3
Plucky Squire
Still wait and see for Vision of Mana.
One indie I really want to see more of, including release date and price is Shadow of Doubt. Miss having a solid immersive Sims and love a detective game. Hopefully this one does it right.
Astrobot and eventually AC Shadows are they only 2 games im taking from that list, my wallet sleeps easy.
@Mikey856 What does mad as a Mexican's dog mean?
A lot of great games coming out! I've got loads to look forward to.
@Anti-Matter plucky squire looks fantastic!
I'm interested in 5 of these.
Star Wars Outlaws
Dragon Age Veilguard
Metaphor
Assassin's Creed Shadows
Space Marines 2
So yeah, pretty busy! Especially considering I'm currently making my way through Yakuza 8 and still need to play Baldurs Gate 3 and Rebirth Hard mode... God I need time off work so bad.
@Anti-Matter
Still have Plucky Squire in my wishlist from when it was first shown off a year ago I think? Still seems like there's no definitive news on when it's actually coming out.
Anywho, I'm starting to like this slowly growing trend of some games being announced just months before they come out. I know it's very hard to keep the cards close to the chest for some of these studios/publishers, but I like it when they do it. Metaphor was just announced at SGF and it's already coming out this year. Starting to see more of that and I hope it continues.
(Me secretly hoping Ghost of Tsushima will finally be announced soon and be coming out 5-7 months later)
A lot of games
Star wars looking likely if reviews are good
Metaphor
ASTRO
Indy
Wukong
So far these are the games I'm interested in.
Still waiting for Aces of Thunder on the PSVR2 🤣
@colonelkilgore I wonder what's the hold up of this game but still hoping it gets a re-reveal and release date some time soon.
Literally no one can say there are no games coming, I've just counted 11 games half are what I truly want to play the other half are games I'd love to give them a chance but money is tight.
There is literally a few games for every genre.
Good lot of games to see the year out and we get astrobot.
Then next year we already from March onwards we start getting the ps exclusive big hitters.
@Enuo I will never understand the goalpost moving that only applies to PS with exclusives. If sony put the game on PC its not exclusive, but for some reason with Xbox its different.
College Football 25
Cities Skylines II
Star Wars: Outlaws (Maybe)
Space Marine 2 and Astro Bot are my most anticipated games left to release this year. I will definitely be getting those, but will likely also get Mechwarrior 5: Clans, Lego Horizon Adventures, and Starship Troopers Extermination.
