Smash hit ghost-hunting horror game, Phasmophobia, has been delayed once again on consoles. Developer Kinetic Games made the announcement via an update on Steam, where it says it needs more time to get the console versions running optimally.
Initially planned to arrive in August, the game was pushed back once already to October due to a fire incident, but has now been delayed indefinitely. The studio explains that a combination of the fire, unforeseen challenges, and adapting to working from home have led to this latest delay. "These combined factors have affected our development timeline more than we initially anticipated," it says.
The game is coming to PS5 with full PSVR2 support, and in optimising the game for these platforms, the developer has needed to completely redesign one of the maps with a new layout. "This decision, though time-consuming for our art team, is essential to provide the best possible gameplay experience," reads the blog.
"We will keep you updated on our progress and provide a revised release date as soon as we have more information to share," it continues. "We are working diligently to minimize the impact of this delay, and we want to express our sincere gratitude for your continued support."
So, we don't know exactly when Phasmophobia is coming to PlayStation, but hopefully it won't be too much further down the line.

Phasmo is a really fun game but it's a pretty small team, comprised of 5 devs, with a ton of updates and fixes planned for the PC version so I'm not surprised the console version is being delayed.
Aww man, delayed again 😔
Completely fine with this as long as it's coming. Taker yer time, guys.
Aw man I was so looking forward to playing this over Halloween with friends and family, I guess I have to change my plans.
Hopefully this delay will allow them to implement voice recognition.
@YoureTooSlowBro wait that's like an integral part of the game- they said it wasn't happening planned for the PlayStation version ?
@zhoont Yep. They said it on their discord server. They said "We are still looking into this for the Xbox. However the Playstation will only support the text voice recognition option."
Without voice recognition this is an absolute no buy from me. If The Inpatient can have it then there's no excuse for Phasmophobia.
@YoureTooSlowBro I assume Sony doesn't want voice recognition to be implemented into games it platforms? I just don't understand why the devs would compromise one of the key aspects of the game. Back when it released my friends and I would repeat "show yourself" into the voicebox as fast as we could and the ghost would be quickly replying a bunch of lines- "here." "kill." "kill." "die." "die." "kill." "here." and then it would hunt us and we'd piss our pants laughing and run away
