Platforming fans can rest assured knowing that from 18th June, you’ll be able to play every single mainline Jak and Daxter game on PS5 and PS4. The release of PSP platformer Daxter – arguably one of the best entries in the series – will round out the selection, with Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, Jak 3, and Jak X: Combat Racing already available. Jak and Daxter: The Lost Frontier, the PSP and PS2 epilogue, launched earlier this year.
It should be noted that the original trilogy, along with Jak X: Combat Racing, are still tied to Sony’s old PS2 emulator, meaning they don’t play as well as they necessarily should. Earlier in the PS4 generation, the Japanese giant ported a select number of PS2 titles to its current-gen console, but the emulation was sloppy and lacked quality of life improvements. The firm’s new PS2 emulator, debuted alongside the likes of Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, includes quick saves and rewind.
Still, it’s great to see all the Jak and Daxter titles readily available on current hardware – this is the kind of preservation we want. We suspect all of the Sly Cooper games will eventually make their way across, and we’d like to see the Ratchet & Clank series follow, especially the largely overlooked spin-off Secret Agent Clank, which very few have actually played. Will you be giving Daxter a spin? Let us know in the comments section below.

Don’t mind no new games once the classics are readily available. I feel like the half the anxiety about keeping franchises “current” is that the alternative is total erasure.
I love this. I actually never played any of them back in the day, as I was moving away from playing platforms at that point, but now I'd love to go back and play them all, after how well loved they all are
Dexter, the talking lunch box and burglarizing squirrel are nice and all but let’s not forget about PlayStations most beloved fish mascot Finny and his one and only adventure Finny the Fish & the Seven Waters.
It would be nice for all these older PS2 games to get switched over to the newer emulator at least.
If they have trophy support cont me in.
@Littlebigmatador I suspect it will. Sony's own games usually have trophies.
Sly might be a bit tougher to get all of them on PS5 since Sly 4 was on PS3/Vita. Of course that won't be an issue if we can get a PS3 emulator up and running...right Sony? 😄
Surprised they've not remastered these or rebooted it. When I think of ps2 era straight think of ratchet and clank and jak and daxter. 2nd one was elite
Recently brought a bundle with the intention of playing through them. I played through Precursor Legacy 100%, fantastic game. On Jak II, and not enjoying as much. Hoping I find my motivation to continue.
All the Ratchet games are a MUST!
@MS7000 I had the exact same experience when I played through the trilogy last year. LOVED Jak and Daxter. It was one of the best platformers I've ever played. Jak II? Frequently frustrating and rarely fun.
Jak 3 was pretty good, though. Definitely not comparable to Jak and Daxter, however.
Cmon Sony what’s up with a new Jak and Daxter game we all love 3D platformers
This is quite awesome news actually.
I would love to see some of these games remastered or remade I platinumed the first one on the PS4.
Jak was always a weird series for me… I loved the first game on PS2 and Daxter on PSP but Jak 2 and 3 suffered from such a strange identity crisis that made them hard to enjoy. Regardless, Daxter is very welcome in my PS55 library.
This was my series back in the PS2 days. Jak II is still one of my favorite games. But man that game was hard. 😂
Yea now with the third party classics getting trophies. Ive never been more excited for the classic games that could come.
Can’t wait, Daxter is so good
daxter was one of the best psp games
@RoomWithaMoose That gives me a bit of hope if 3 is better. I will keep going and see what happens. =)
Give us a new one Naughty Dog, pretty please.
