Video game exclusives are increasingly becoming a thing of the past, so of course Sony developed and published game LEGO Horizon Adventures grabbed the opportunity to be part of the very latest Nintendo Direct. Releasing for the PS5, PC, and Nintendo Switch later this year, a new trailer showcased more LEGO gameplay action. Check it out above.
We see a focus on co-op fun alongside a tease for base building as you help rebuild Aloy's home throughout the brick-based adventure. Of course, in LEGO tradition, there'll be loads of costumes to customise Aloy and all her friends with too. There's still no confirmed release date attached yet, but LEGO Horizon Adventures is still on track for a 2024 launch.

Switch footage is looking solid! Obviously not as shiny as on PS5, but this could look quite pretty on the SWOLED.
Nintendo is pretty much the only company left that still believes in exclusivity as a thing in any kind of lasting sense.
I was drinking a hot cup of tea while watching it, so good job this was announced at SGF otherwise my phone and hand would have melted lol.
I liked thi trailer better b/c less hot dog guy and I don’t understand his presence. I mean ok yeah I like the guy and he would fit right into any of the Lego movies but he just doesn’t seem right for Horizon.
Probably day 1 but still need a date.
Absolutely trash that this game is releasing on the Nintendo switch but not the PS4. Skipping it for that reason alone.
i’m shocked that this version isnt an absolute mess, it honestly looks pretty good for a switch port of a ps5 exclusive
@BamBamBaklava89 The PS4 is ten years old lol
@Jackpaza0508 I think that's why Studio Gobo are involved and it runs on Unreal 5, probably helps with the port work.
@VaultGuy415 still more powerful than a switch.
@Ralizah They've dipped their toes in the water with things like The Wonderful 101, GoldenEye and Fatal Frame. Here's hoping there'll be more shared games in the future.
@VaultGuy415 If Sony did release this game for PS4, people would complain about it being made for PS4 and Sony not focusing more on PS5.
Things like this should happen more often.
Tbf, seeing the PS Studios logo in a Nintendo Direct is kind of sad FOR ME...
Please make more weird family games like this, PlayStation. I need more things like Aloy in a bee costume throwing sharks at robot dinosaurs.
Game is gonna sell like crazy because of switch. I wish Nintendo would consider multi for MP4. The rabid but small Metroid fan base isn't gonna be enough to cover 9 years of development.
@__jamiie Not even dipping in its toes. The best case to be made from the games mentioned is W101, and the re-release of that was published by Platinum itself, AFAIK.
More like Nintendo is looking at the water from a nearby cabin.
This is the same company that fairly recently reportedly wouldn't allow a Metroid crossover with Fortnite to happen because the skin wouldn't be exclusive to Nintendo's platform. Fair to say their 100% exclusivity standard for anything involving Nintendo-owned IPs will continue.
I’m actually not sure how I missed this. I guess I missed it while making tea. Cool tho!
Sony with the big balls telling Nintendo to just show it lol.
This is such a Wipeout 64 moment
It is strange that they showed this game at sgf and Nintendo direct but not at their own show. PS also had a show a few weeks before mlb the show came out this year and they passed on the easy opportunity to show their own game then as well. Both of those ps shows had a weak reception online and it seems like they could have made them a little better with little effort. They seem to treat their shows as marketing obligations to 3rd party with no regards for viewer reception.
Otherwise I'm super pumped that they are publishing on nintendo, i will probably purchase it there to support the effort. Hopefully they will release more games on other platforms.
I like how the narrator is talking about the Horizon games as if thus isn't the first time Nintendo have ever played them.
@VaultGuy415 "The PS4 is ten years old lol"
And yet is still more powerful than the Switch 🤷
They really should have released it on PS4 and Xbox if they wanted as much sales as possible like they said.
@Tecinthebrain an Xbox release would barely do anything for sales. It was a much smarter move on Sony’s part to invest in PC and the Switch because outside of the PS ecosystem, that’s where the majority of the players are.
This is also one of those situations where if they did port it to PS4, people would be more than vocal about making a game for it.
Xbox gamers aren’t exactly clamouring for PS games either.
When your own platform customers are disappointed in the lack of 1st party major / new IPs,
or considering PC because you will port your big games there anyway (and powerful PCs seem to be the only thing these days that will run 3rd party games properly),
and your off making lego games (primarily)for Switch.....
@Ralizah I'm sure they own the rights to Wonderful 101 though and they definitely own the rights to Fatal Frame. The GoldenEye port to Xbox could never have happened without them allowing it to.
And of course they're going to protect their IP. No other publisher or hardware manufacturer has a comparable list of well known franchises that they have built over the last 40+ years. They build their hardware to make a profit from launch and believe it will sell machines. It doesn't always work of course but for every generational dip, they have a massive generational high.
Nintendo games don't cost hundreds of millions to make but they sell amazingly well meaning profit all the way.
Their hardware hasn't been the most powerful of a generation since the N64 but they still make money on every unit sold.
Their exclusives are far more important to their business model than anyone else.
Lego games sell well on the Xbox, @WhiteRabbit. So whilst I agree the Horizon games would be mostly unknown to them, Lego most certainly is not. Plus, what better way to advertise a Sony IP than put a version of it on the Xbox; draw them in with Lego, make them want to play Horizon on the PlayStation. Sales and new PlayStation gamers, what more could you ask for...?
What a sad summer to be a PlayStation fan, both Xbox and Nintendo had amazing presentations while Sony… well, has Astro Bot.
@Ralizah I'm sure they'll crack, eventually.
@IOI they also have Behemoth, and Silent Hill 2.
We also had Helldivers 2, FF7 Rebirth, Rise of the Ronin, and Stellar Blade.
PS fans have already been eating good this year.
@BacklogBrad I think having it on SGF served two purposes.
1) They get to announce a game on a show that will get a lot of viewers outside of PlayStation, which is ideal for a game like this.
And 2) They know that they would get heat for announcing a day and date game for Switch on a SoP, they already get it for announcing PC ports on them so I can only imagined what it would have been like had they revealed it on SoP.
@IOI Outside of PC, Playstation probably got more announced then any of the other consoles. Just because Sony didn't do a big showcase doesn't mean they were a non event this summer
@IOI Metroid Prime 4 alone made that Direct a 10/10. I thought the game was at least a few years away. Caught me completely off guard when it was shown at the end.
I kind of hope that Nintendo eventually gives up on exclusivity too. I imagine they could sell at least 20 million more copies of Breath of the Wild if they were to port it to PS5. At this point, I get the exclusivity argument for a year+ if you are trying to sell a console or a subscription service. But, once you reach that saturation point, there's no longer any point to lockdown a game. I imagine Sony could instantly double their Spider-Man sales if they ported the game to Switch/Switch 2 and Xbox. Though, I still think Xbox gamers would whine that they game isn't on Game Pass.
Now let's see a Mario port on Playstation. Then I can die happy, lol.
As long as this game is exactly like the other Lego games in that you do the level and then can go back to it after you complete it and redo the game/levels in a Freeplay mode to collect all the gold bricks, red bricks, character tokens, and other collectibles. If that element of the Lego games is missing from this, then sadly I will have to pass. That is what made the Lego games enjoyable for me is the collecting everything and then using the red bricks to unlock "cheats" to get a multiplier on studs and super speed and other things.
@Jackpaza0508 exactly, also we have to take into account the fact that Guerilla themselves are developing the Switch port! Which is crazy if you ask me
@theSpectre “I still think Xbox gamers would whine that they game isn't on Game Pass.”
100% this.
@BamBamBaklava89
What a strange reason to skip a game lol
Because it's not being released on a console that released way back in 2013 almost 11 years ago? Seriously
PS4 game releases should have ended 6 months maximum after the PS5 was released, PS5 is now almost 4 years old so it's about time the PS4 went into a well earned retirement
Obviously the PS4 is powerful enough to handle it but it's really time to move on
@IOI Nintendo show was filled with remasters and HD re-releases. The slightly interesting ones are multi-platform titles. If Sony did that, the internet would catch fire.
@Nei Worse. Sony's show was filled with Chinese f2p gacha titles and samey live service stuff.
Meanwhile, Nintendo had Metroid Prime 4, a new 2D Zelda, Mario and Luigi, and multiple smaller releases that are still cool like Last Defense Academy. In addition to the few ports and remasters they highlighted.
That Nintendo direct was excellent. Combined with the Xbox showcase it's really shown up how poor Sony has become with its communication and marketing. I've pencilled in a handful of games that are more than likely day 1 buys. Slightly surprised not to see Final Fantasy 9 Remake - So I'll foolishly hold onto the hope that Sony still has a showcase planned for later in the year.
@Ralizah Eh, I mean …a couple of samey Nintendo mid/low tier projects that have yet the same tone and characters. I honestly would give Ballad of Antara a try over them anytime if I had gaming time to spare 🤷🏼♀️
Excited for Metroid, it’s good to see the project is alive and I hope they are planning to release it on the Switch successor as well
Not sure this is for me but it's interesting. How long before the PS Nintendo Direct article, telling Sony to improve? It's been several hours now. For the record this was the best one of the Summer for my tastes.
@WhiteRabbit
100%. People are crazy.
@IOI Are you trolling?
Your comment doesn't makes sense as if PS owners are starving and didn't get any exclusives games such as TloU Part 2 remastered, FF VII Rebirth, Helldivers 2, Stellar Blade, Rise of the Ronin, GranBlue Fantasy Relink, Ultros, Pacific Drive, and soon Concord, Zeneless Zone Zero, Astro Bot, and SH 2 remake.
And there's also multiplat like Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree, Tekken 8, Dragon's Dogma 2, Black Myth Wukong, Lego Horizon, Visions of Mana, Ys X, Metaphor: ReFantazio, and Kunitsu-Gami which are either missing Switch or Xbox version.
Yeah it had to show on Nintendo direct, if they want more audiences to see it.
@BamBamBaklava89 Time to start saving up for a PS5, or get used to the collection of games already available for PS4.
Power comparisons between the PS4 and Switch aside (because your point is fair), both the PS5 and Switch are current flagship consoles for their respective companies.
PS4 had a great run, but its time as a mainstay in the business side of the industry is over. I’m sorry… 🤷🏽♂️
@Ralizah Its because Nintendo don't spend as much as Sony/MS do on making games.
@BamBamBaklava89 The PS4 is a last gen console its over done. Sony have moved on and so should you.
@IOI Yet PS5 has had more games released for it so far this year then both Xbox and Switch. I'm currently addicted to V Rising and enjoying a NG+ playthrough of Stellar Blade, neither are on Switch and Xbox.
@Jackpaza0508 @AdamNovice I think the reason why it’s running so well on Switch is:
It was developed for Switch in the first place!
Yes, when the SIE heads (including Hermen Hulst) decided to make this game, I think they told Guerilla and Gobo to target Switch as primary platform, with PS5 getting a beefed up version. Because SIE knows that Switch will account for 50% of all sales for this game, and it will help to make the IP more popular in the gaming space.
@BamBamBaklava89 upgrade already, christ 😂
Seems as there is not a single Lego game on the Game Pass, and that 99% of games do not go on the service, @theSpectre and @WhiteRabbit, why would Xbox gamers whine about it?
@Fiendish-Beaver Did I say anything about a Lego game?
True, @theSpectre. My bad! However, the point is still valid; Xbox gamers would not expect Spiderman 2 to go on to the Game Pass, but would simply be delighted to be getting the game. Game Pass is not the be all and end all on the Xbox. The only games that their gamers expect to go on the service are First Party titles. If that were not to happen, then they would be understandably upset. Any other game entering the service is a bonus. Games that don't go on the service are just like games on here; there to be bought...
@WhiteRabbit @PuppetMaster Yes, yes, I knew that was going to come up, Sony did a great job having third-party exclusives for this year, no one, absolutely no one is saying that PS5 has no games.
You’re all over-defensive for Sony, I’m not saying they don’t have any games coming ever, I’m saying that for the most part this generation they’ve done a very poor job at communicating, many studios have been noticeably absent since 2021’s Showcase and just comparing the latest State of Play to either the Xbox showcase or Nintendo Direct it’s shameful, after Astro Bot there’s nothing to be really excited about.
The good thing is they can easily shut me up with having a great showcase after Astro Bot releases and I really hope there’s one this year, if not I’m going to continue to be even more baffled by Sony’s (lack of) communication.
@WhiteRabbit exactly! Stupid people just don't know how to be happy, always find something to complain 🤣
@IOI Disagreeing with your statement isn’t defending Sony.
@Fiendish-Beaver I think most gamers wouldn't care. I'm talking about the ride or die xbots that eat up literally everything Phil Spencer says. They are the ones that would whine about a game like Spider-Man not being available on Xbox. We see the same types of games on Playstation who say they will wait for any kind of sale before buying a game they are interested in (which I get, games are expensive). However, then you get a situation where a company like Pieces Interactive is closed because their game (while not the best game ever) fails to attract an audience because players might be waiting until the game is $10.
