Sony has pushed out updates for several of its classic PS Plus Premium releases, adding Platinums to all of them. While many of its emulated first-party PS1 and PSP games have launched with Trophies, third-parties have generally been allowed to forego the feature. But now, the likes of Toy Story 2: Buzz Lightyear to the Rescue, Toy Story 3, Alone in the Dark: The New Nightmare, and Oddworld: Abe’s Exoddus all have gongs to unlock.
In the case of the two Toy Story titles, you’ll be tasked with finishing the games and finding their collectibles. Alone in the Dark will ask you to beat a bunch of bosses, collect all of the weapons, and find some secret relics – while Oddworld includes some more sinister gameplay challenges, like causing Abe to die from an electric wall or by falling to his doom.
While all of these Trophies are unexpected additions, it’ll be interesting if it continues to roll out more gongs to the likes of Ridge Racer, Tekken, and more. Either way, it’s great to see Sony continuing to stick to its emulation strategy, and we’re looking forward to all the additions set to follow in the future now that PS2 is a supported platform as well.

See Sony? This is how you make me stick with Premium. It is only what I bought your top tier subscription for two years ago.
Very welcome change, hopefully the entire classic selection can be updated in this way to make revisiting old games a fresh challenge.
This is awesome ! Hoping they add trophies to Star Wars Rebel Assault 2 🙏
Glad to see this. I wonder if they been updated to the latest version of the emulator?
We are a little closer to a timeline where the fantastic Episode 3 game releases on ps4/5 and it has trophies. Quiet good decisions are what keeps the fire going.
Fantastic! Will be delving into more classics if they get trophies. It's incredible Sony doesn't make more of a news story over this in the blog
Didn't buy Tekken 2 but if it gets trophies I doubt I could resist
Ridge racer type 4 trophies please! I’ll so jump into it. One of my all time best PS memories.
Good news?... yes. But "scores" of titles upgraded?... no.
1 score = 20, therefore scores would imply a minimum of 40.
Yeah, I had to be that guy lol
Guess I'm restarting toy story 2! No complaints here. This will make more sales to the people that need platinum trophy support. Hopefully that means more disney games from ps1.
Alone in the Dark getting trophies makes me tempted to play!
Curiosity leads me to ask if this was Sony's doing, or if they asked the original developers if they could add them in. Regardless, there's still a modest number of games that still don't have trophies, like early PS3 games such as Heavenly Sword, but I don't think people will mind if a handful of games are unavoidably without trophies.
Come on Namco. Get involved.
@BeerIsAwesome Possibly this is Sony's doing since they're the one who partnered with Implicit Conversions to make a new / improved emulator for PS1, PS2, and PSP games.
Hmmm, I already beat toy story 2 on PS4, will the new trophies unlock automatically?
Trophy support added to Toy Story 2? LFG!
Well this is very welcome news. Hopefully the original Resident Evil gets trophies added soon unless Capcom are doing a classic trilogy collection at some point. Would love to attempt some speed run trophies on classic REs. Ridge Racer Type 4 too
Great news. Trophys shouldn't matter, but they do to many.
This made my day yesterday. I almost guarantee they are going to roll out trophy patches for all the remaining 3rd party classics
You love to see it.
This is a great thing. I'm very happy with that development. Trophies are a great motivator for me to play the games, it gives a extra incentive to play, along the game itself.
The amount of people playing games just for meaningless trophies and not the actual game is quite baffling.
Where's The Phantom Menace trophies at Sony?
The only game I really want to see trophies added to is RESISTANCE: Fall Of Man.
Gimme those Tekken 2 and Ridge Racer Type 4 trophies baby
"Scores of Retro PS Plus Premium Titles Upgraded" you say.
LOL....
@TrickyDicky99 maybe there's a huge chunk of gamers that really enjoy getting trophies. What I find baffling sometimes is when someone is super enjoying a game but deletes it after completion of the campaign when they could have got so much more continued fun out of it by going for the rest of the trophies and platinum
@Beerheadgamer82 I enjoy getting trophies for games I like, in a way it extends the life of the game
But I would never say I'm not playing a game because it has no trophies or I wouldn't play a game just for trophies
@TrickyDicky99 yh I know what you mean. It's like if I adored Elden Ring be looking forward to its dlc, yes annoying no trophies but still play the s##t out of it. The trouble with some of the PS1 classics on Premium is I still own some of them physically on the original PS1 console and can just whip those out instead, having new trophies on PS classics there's no need to whip out the PS1. Could even whip out the DS and play Resident Evil Deadly Silence instead of no trophies premium version
There's more games than what I have listed that have trophy support now
Great reason for me to replay Oddworld: Abe’s Exodus again. Incredible game back in the day.
Nice that's 2 more platinums patched in, but sony really need to stop drip feeding us games and turn on the tap with their classic catalogue, currently I own 5 ps1 classics on ps4 / ps5, but over 40 on ps3, why is it taking so long?
@PuppetMaster Probably. A number of them added trophies at once, so it would make sense. Individual developers would patch them as they finish them.
