Fancy a reminder of how old you’re getting? Take this story emerging out of Roblox: iconic Swedish furniture giant IKEA is going to pay ten successful applicants to operate its virtual store. Applicants will be responsible for helping players pick furniture and serving them meatballs. Just to be clear, those are digital meatballs – all of this will be occurring within Roblox itself.
Incredibly, staff will be paid €14.80/$16.10 per hour, which is comfortably above minimum wage in a number of countries. You can apply for the job on the The Coworker, but you may need to prepare yourself for some tricky questions, like which pixelated furniture would you like to be and how would you handle a deficit in hot dogs while running the IKEA restaurant.
There’s no word on shift lengths or paid holidays, nor is there any confirmation of how long the contract will last. Presumably this is all just a promotional scheme to get websites like ours writing about IKEA. Well, it looks like it’s worked – and to be honest, there are worse ways to make money in Roblox these days.

I'm so old.
It will sound appealing and even exciting for a few days, maybe even weeks but after a few months of this you'll need to give The Samaritans a call
Isn’t this game for kids? This is a bit weird. So long as they’re not asking the kids to work proper hours long shifts.
So child labour then lol
But what about those tubes of chocolate? Those were the best part of going to any IKEA.
@ShadowofSparta It was at one point... Now it trying to be the metaverse
It always pains me when the worst Roblox titles, especially the crappy sponsored ones, are advertised by media outlets rather than actual passion projects and quality titles.
Then again, IKEA commiting child labor is more newsworthy than a Doomspire game ever will be.
At first I didn't understand what the WB CEO meant when he talked about "building worlds to live, work and play in." Now I do. And I wish I didn't.
Yep, I'm old alright.
@get2sammyb This feels like if Second Live was successful.
@Mikey856 You would be surprised with the number of adults that roams around roblox.
This is hilarious, though!
@ShadowofSparta most of the games on it are very kiddy and easy and gives you options to buy things within it.
But dig a little deeper and you'll find actual in depth games, which honestly if they was released as a normal game and maybe not the whole rolblox graphics they'd be very well received.
Mainly tycoon management games.
But examples
A resturant tycoon, free build a restaurant, hire chefs, waitors. Sort your menu, basic and complex dishes which require extra equipment, also with a drive thru element, its actually quite in depth.
Prison tycoon, design and build your own prison freely buy more land, a basic but entertaining arrest criminals for your prison.
Working cctv, hire guards, level up so you can have bigger cars to arrest more prisoners, level up for criminals to be brought to you buy bus, your prison can become huge, you can allow family visitation, people can become hurt and need a infirmary, its quite in depth once you get into it.
Shopping mall tycoon same concept, of having to go get your goods and then you work up to employing drivers and a lorry to get your goods, a manager who auto orders your stock, finance reps who give out loans, employees, free build.
I mean honestly I'm truly not one for roblox, most games are pretty wait for money to go up press a button, but as I mentioned there are some actual in depth games within it.
I'd say this game is what dreams should of been.
Honestly I hope who ever was behind this game end up making a more adult better graphics version and give us the dreams we all wanted because they know what their doing with this genre.
End of the day people can say what they want about this game but it literally gives anyone a chance to make a game and make money off of it.
@AFCC haha yeah seems mad this
