@Tasuki: i'm gonna pick it up when i finally get round to getting a MS money card

I'm really toying with picking up The Evil Within as £12 is quite cheap, has anyone got any opinions on this game? I believe it's like Resident Evil (which I've never played btw) but I enjoyed Alien Isolation which I'm lead to believe has a similar mechanic (in that there is a main bad guy chasing you down throughout the whole game and you are playing hide and seek with it) and I really enjoyed that.

@crippyd: Sorry mate, I haven't played that one so I can't give an opinion, though I have heard good things of it.

@FullbringIchigo: Nice would be interested in hearing what you think.

And speaking of picking things up pre-owned Xbox Ones are going for $219 in my area. Thinking once I finish paying off some worK that was done on my car I might pick one up.

@crippyd: The Evil Within is much more a spiritual successor to the traditional Resident Evil and I would certainly recommend picking it up - especially for just £12. Alien Isolation is a lot more 'hide and seek' paying attention to vents for the signs, listening out for the noise etc. Ruvik, the games main protagonist, is a bit like the Alien in that he is invulnerable and appears randomly throughout - the only option is to run and hide.

Its a typical Survival Horror - in that you have limits to what you can carry but with upgrades, can carry more. A number of traps and mechanisms also have to be avoided although you can also use these to your advantage too. Combat isn't 'forced' and you can stealth your way around most enemies or run away.

Its a psychological horror survival story with a lot of gore - more so than Alien Isolation. I wouldn't say the game is as 'polished' or as coherent but it is the game that RE5 should have been and well worth picking up for £12 if you like this type of game - definitely one for Adults and with a strong stomach...

Why can't life be like gaming? Why can't I restart from an earlier checkpoint??

Feel free to add me but please send a message so I know where you know me from...

@BAMozzy thanks for the considered reply, sounds like I'll be spending a bit more money! @Tasuki thanks for the reply.

Well, I'm a sucker for cheap things and I took the plunge with the Evil Within. So I've got Forza Horizon 2, Doom and The Evil Within in the last week even though I've got about 8 billion other games that I've not touched for ages, loads of 360 ones to complete and I keep playing Dark Souls 3 so I don't even open the other games up! First world problems right there!

I hope you have lots of fun with them all....

@crippyd: Lol you sound like me. I too am a sucker for a good deal and with so many consoles, I am always finding deals. Heck I just picked up L4D2, and GoW2 from the ultimate sale last week for the 360 and I have no idea when I will get to them, especially with the new DLC pack for Black Ops 3 dropping today. Heck I still have a stack of SNES games and some Dreamcast games that I picked up from a flea market a few months ago that I still need to get too.

I think I need to call in sick for a week from work and still I won't be caught up lol

@Tasuki LOL I think if I called in sick for a month I'd still be behind in my backlog! Too many games and not enough hours in the day.

RR529

I beat Halo Anniversary (360) tonight!

I won't go into too much detail (as I did in the "Games You Recently Beat" thread), but I will say I had a pretty good time with it (don't know if I ever want to play that final segment though, as the vehicle controls were a tad too akward for that, but the rest of the game was fine).

I'm not much into FPS (this is my first experience with the series, to boot), but I thought it was a solid game, and now I have a series to go to if I ever get the FPS itch again.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

Vincent294

@RR529: The 2nd one has a good but short campaign if you get that itch. I highly recommend it. And vehicles don't get too prevalent until the end of Halo 3 so that's not a problem either.

I really hope people will post more and continue to do so in this topic. I don't have an Xbox this generation, but the 360 was my favourite console last generation. I am still interested in keeping up a bit with what's going on and its exclusives, but since Pure Xbox has shut down I'm completely out of the loop.

Kidfried

crippyd

@Kidfried I do too. I don't have a PS of any type and there are virtually no Xbox communities out there, certainly none as welcoming as pX was and also OXM that passed away a couple of years ago. I miss getting updates on stuff and having a crack with other like minded people.

If anyone wants any specific information regarding Xbox, its exclusives or hardware, please feel free to ask and I will update you. Most 3rd party multi-platform games are covered to a degree on this site - albeit from a PS perspective but often the information is valid. I often read/comment etc about games I have on Xbox that are also on PS here. I see no issue with discussing what I am looking forward to in Mass Effect 4 (for example) regardless of which platform you intend to buy for.

Major Nelson posts a lot of news/updates and of course Xbox Wire - the official Xbox news site has information too. Xbox also has its own youtube channel with a weekly round up - the latest This Week on Xbox - July 15th

I do miss the old OXM and Pure Xbox forums and the people within. This site though has a good crowd (in my opinion) and there is often some topics in the general section that seem to be similar across all 3.

Anyway, if there is anything you want to know, please feel free to ask...

@crippyd:
It's a shame isn't it? Once PX shutdown I went looking for a place as good to post about Xbox and sadly there are none. PlayStation and Nintendo fans both have plenty of options, it'd be nice to get a place, besides Major Nelson's blog, where it can be all Xbox talk.

Vincent294

@BAMozzy: Yeah, been visiting Xbox Wire and this place a lot more now that pX is gone. I even made a Twitter list to get a feed of this site and Nintendo Life.

Finally finished Jade Empire on the Original Xbox and it's definitely in my top 5 favorite Xbox games. I loved the atmosphere, the music l and the story was great. It's a shame EA won't let Bioware make another one.

@Tasuki Don't very often come across a game i've never heard of (from the last couple of generations at least) but just looked in to Jade Empire (having not heard of it before) and it looks very interesting. Are there any other exclusives from the original xbox which have fallen somewhat off the radar? I'm rather tempted to pick up a pre-owned 360 to catch up on things I missed out on!

@TXP: I am actually discovering alot of them myself currently. I never owned an Xbox during that gen just had a PS2 and Gamecube so sadly I don't know too many hidden gems on the Xbox. If you havery a PC Jade Empire did have a PC release and you can get it pretty cheap on Steam.
