Annapurna Interactive has confirmed, after a short period of uncertainty in the aftermath of its announcement at the Xbox Showcase, that, yes, promising coming of age outing Mixtape will release on PS5 in 2025. The game, developed by The Artful Escape maker Beethoven & Dinosaur, is being pitched as a “mixtape of memories, set to the soundtrack of a generation”.
The blurb reveals: “En route to their final party together, a perfectly curated playlist draws [three friends] into dreamlike reenactments of their formative memories. Experience a variety of narrative vignettes exploring the pivotal moments that shaped them. It’s the greatest hits of teenage friendship, from the first kiss to the last dance. Players will immerse themselves in the teenage wasteland by playing through a mixtape of joyful gameplay, from skateboarding and flying to taking photos after hours at an abandoned theme park, hitting baseballs, and putting on a fireworks show from the backseat of a car.”
This sounds like one for Life Is Strange fans – and with Max Caulfield also scheduled to make a comeback, this has been a big weekend for teenage angst.

Digging the vibe of this. If the soundtrack is half as good as the original Life is Strange OST, we’re in.
This was one of my favourite games from the Xbox thing. And I really liked The Artful Escape, too so that's a bonus.
This looked interesting, glad it's coming to PS5
@Fartingale If another company wants to pay big bucks to advertise a game that is coming to another console at the same time as all the others then let them. Unless you pre-order the moment it is announced on another console and can't cancel said pre-order so you can pre-order on your console of choice I don't see the problem.
Easily THE announcement of the whole summerfest. Artful Escape was one of the rare all time greats and showed their taste for quality and aestethics (which most game developers lack obviously)
One of the biggest standouts from the showcase for me, can’t wait to play.
If you are of a certain age and certainly if you are into the music of the era I'm sure this was giving you all the feels...
Couldn't help but feel the breakfast club vibe there.
I can't wait to play it and my only disappointment was it is not until next year.
Loving the look of this. Immediately gave me vibes of a John Hughes movie (especially with the Ferris Bueller reference), mixed with Life is Strange and the movie Perks of Being a Wallflower.
Definitely in my wishlist.
Mixtape: The Promising: Coming of Age: Outing. (AKA: Dry Heave Overdrive)
While my teenage years in an ex mining town in west yorkshire we're nowhere near as glam as this in the mid to late 90s I still dig the vibe and have fond memories of that time. Did feel like.... things could only get better..... smirks
Awesome promo! My fav game trailer of the past year is "Resistor - Announcement Trailer" but I think I like this one better. Such a good vibe and great music.
might be a better life is strange game if there are actual narrative driven choices here. hard to say without an ounce of gameplay. annapurna rarely disappoints with its published selections.
This looks interesting, like my teen years.
