Phasmophobia, the multiplayer ghost hunting horror game that took PC by storm, is heading to PS5 soon, with full PSVR2 support to boot. However, it won't be coming quite as soon as expected. Originally planned for a release in August, developer Kinetic Games has delayed the launch to October.
In a short statement on social media, the studio says "a recent fire incident in our office building and unpredicted development issues" are the reasons behind the delay. The team's "ability to test and develop has been significantly impacted".
The game is now planned to make its console debut in the week leading up to Halloween this October. "This gives us the time needed to perfect and fine-tune everything," Kinetic Games says.
Phasmophobia will launch into one of 2023's busiest months for game releases, arriving within days of Marvel's Spider-Man 2, Alan Wake 2, Sonic Superstars, Lords of the Fallen, and Alone in the Dark, among others. Players will be spoilt for choice, but at least launching close to Halloween is apt for this creepy multiplayer title.

Just as long as people are safe doesn't matter if the devs need to delay it or not. Safety comes first.

Slightly off topic but have we ever known a month like it in gaming? October is so ridiculous.

In my opinion this game has gotten worse over time. It started in a promising place and was getting great updates, but the devs actually ruined it for me. They introduced an update which changed how the ghosts behave and it made it very difficult to actually gather evidence, and my friends and I felt we were just being hunted and killed without a chance to identify the ghost too often. This game can be incredibly creepy and scary without feeling too real, but I would love to try it on VR.
@Nepp67 That's not really the big here. Im happy that everyone is alright but is it really smart to put your game out in such a busy month? I'm mean you will probably bury your your own game at day one. Never mind it's VR I think that has a special audience anyway.
