Avalanche Software has shared a new video detailing the Hogwarts Legacy summer update it has planned for PS5 and PS4, launching on 6th June 2024. Previously revealed in a Twitter post, it's now supporting the patch with video footage of an extensive Photo Mode and supporting content. You can catch that above.
Once the patch is downloaded, you'll be able to capture much better screenshots of the game thanks to lots of different options you can utilise to form the perfect shot. You can adjust character poses, change the time of day and the season, add frames, and mess about with the usual photo editing features.
The update also allows you to redistribute your talent points for skills you'd find more useful, and the Hogsmeade side quest previously exclusive to PS5, PS4 will now be available for everyone. Then, the Azkaban cosmetics will be made free for all, and the taped-up spectacles from the developer's easter egg video will also be released. Finally, the Onyx Hippogriff that was a pre-order bonus is now free along with the Felix Felicis potion recipe.
These additions will be out for Hogwarts Legacy on 6th June 2024. Will you be capturing some shots in the game after the update? Let us know in the comments below.

Still gotta finish this!
Preorder cosmetics almost always end up free eventually - nice to see that. And it's nice for everyone else to get to play the Playstation-exclusive side quest, it was short but fun.
I finished the game once, and started again with a new character so I could try a different house, but I just fizzled out. Maybe I've been away long enough to give it a shot again (and to re-learn flying a broom, the controls on that are slick once you master them, but didn't feel intuitive at all, at first).
I’ve been playing this on my PS5 for about three hours now and I have to admit to being a little disappointed. It just seems like there’s a lot of talking going on and the transitions between meeting a character and then having a conversation with them is really disjointed and choppy. Maybe things get really exciting after a few more hours and there’s not as much talking, I don’t know. I hope so.
@thechetearly Still gotta get around to this!
Too many games not enough time!
@CVCubbington I'll go ahead & let you know that conversations are the crux of doing most side quests. The combat is largely repetitive & secondary to the game.
This game captures the True Heart of the Wizarding World, not just Harry Potter. I absolutely LOVE this world and all it details. Looking forward to any new content and am excited to see what the future holds for Hogwarts Legacy. I own it on Series X and PS5 🥰🫶
@CVCubbington If it wasn't for cough I'm of the opinion that this would have been a pretty forgettable game in the grand scheme of things. I have seen very little reason to pick it up again since.
The video is a cringe-fest
Such a nothing update for 1.5 years later. Photomode should have been day 1, or at least within the first 6 months.
Robocop Rogue City was my Hogwarts Legacy. That is a mediocre kinda game but so so good of youre a fan of the franchise.
I'll do a second playthrough of this eventually. Hopefully.
I rather enjoyed the game and the shop quest ahead of the other platforms.
@RobN I don't think it's nice to see pre-order content being given out to everyone and never have. They're incentives for pre-ordering. It makes them feel special and they lose every bit of charm when suddenly everyone has all of the same items. It's like buying something that's "limited edition" and owning one of something that only had 500 made world-wide. Only to hear "Due to extremely high demand... we've decided to print a second run of 100,000."
I think 10-15 years ago I would have been drooling at the mouth for a game like this but I just can't muster the enthusiasm for what seems like a bang-average third-person action adventure with some Hogwarts skin slapped over the top
Pretty sure the dude in that video used to run PSLS. Good to see him doing well
That we got a summer update, with such minor content, is equivalent to winning 10 cents in the lottery.
This game is one of the very best this generation imo (and i have enjoyed it a lot more than other 3rd party major titles of the last few years such as elden ring which was good, and Jedi), though i would recommend playing on its highest difficulty.
I was hoping for a somewhat higher difficulty mode or maybe some form of ng+, but oh well.
I played the game at launch and specifically remember feeling creeped out in the Forbidden Forest the first time I went in. The atmosphere is very good with this game. Combat works, the story is fine and the puzzles are fairly simple, but the world-building.../chefs kiss/ The world-building was fantastic to me.
