Elden Ring is massive. Properly massive. We knew that already, but seeing that the game's just smashed through 25 million sales really hammers it home. The figure was confirmed earlier today by developer FromSoftware, and the crazy thing is that with Shadow of the Erdtree launching next week, those sales numbers are probably in for a bump — especially if the DLC is as well received as the base game.
For additional context, the last update that we got on Elden Ring's commercial success came in February, when it topped 23 million. So that's 2 million sales in the space of about four months. Basically, the open world RPG just hasn't stopped selling since its initial release in 2022. Few games could even dream of hitting 25 million sales, but FromSoftware's struck gold.

For my money still the best game this generation.
@Mustoe It’s an odd situation because it’s crossgen but I’d definitely say it was the best game of the current gen so far. Becomes a little more complicated for a lot of people if you included Switch in this gen though!
Is there a breakdown by hardware? Just curious, no real reason.
That is an insane number considering there must have been at least a few people who avoided it b/c of the difficulty. Though I suppose a few more bought it b/c of the difficulty?
I could see it selling a few more million when they're selling a $15 Complete Edition like Witcher 3 seems to always be on sale. And the requisite PS6 remaster.
Still wish they'd put in an easy mode so I could talk my other kid into playing it, was such a great game but they'd really rather not. I made my own easy mode, 100 hours of grinding before I started doing the story, but who has time for that?

@Mega-Gazz They're all pretty much the same along with all the others. Almost everything in BB can be found in ER and more. So...it's probably the theme you like.
I’m surprised it’s done so well just because none of the previous games have sold anything like that many copies, but I’m also not surprised because it’s the most incredible game ever made (in my opinion).
I’m currently dashing through my NG+ to get to the point where I can jump straight in to Erdtree. I’ve also started a new magic based character who I’m going to replay the game with.
Man I love this game. Finished it over 20 times now and still discover new stuff every playthrough, but as @TheArt said it's the art direction that gets me. The mysterious vibes, the amazing views and landscapes, I just dont get bored with it. Definitely my favorite game Fromsoft has made and I've played them all. Heck it's shares first place for best game I've enjoyed with Breath of the Wild.

I'm kinda surprised Elden Ring sold this much but i guess it's the reward how From Soft always stick with their gameplay philosophy for decades that span from King's Field, Demon's Souls, Dark Souls, Bloodborne, to Sekiro.
