Assassin's Creed Remakes Are on the Way, Ubisoft Confirms

It’s not a terrible idea, the Animus is a get out of jail free card to reinterpret previous games. However, considering that the series essentially has all of human history at its disposal, is it not a bit lazy to end up straight back at the same settings?

I think only the first game (Assassin's Creed 2007) needs a remake, honestly. Didn't get ported over and didn't age quite well.

The other ones don't really need a remake, however.

Not really sure but almost all of them save #1 are playable on PS5 already.

Not for me thanks. I enjoy assassins creed titles but life is short and games to play are many - these titles are far too long to play through again - for me at least. I'm sure there is a market for it, so good news for those who want them I guess

@jorel262 And the first is playable on Series X. Just picked up a physical 360 disc copy.

That game hasn’t aged well, but it’s still pleasing to me that just about all of these games (save the original) are still perfectly playable on PS4/5, and all of them on XBox. As a PS fanboy that last part doesn’t warm my heart, but at least the ability is there!

As long as we continue to get new games as well in the series then I'm fine with them remaking some of them. AC2 could use a bit of a face lift along with of course AC1.

So... Ubisoft had basically driven Assassin's Creed into the ground by the time Syndicate came out. It then reset the franchise with Origins and vowed to take longer breaks between games in order to ensure higher quality.

And now the plan is to just remake those old games in order to fill the gaps between the bigger, new titles? History really is circular.

Ubisoft needs to pump the brakes a little bit.

We’ve yet to see anything substantial on the Prince of Persia or Splinter Cell remakes and we’ve known about both of them for awhile now.

How about we just focus on getting those out the door first?

@jFug Ubisoft has multiple hefty studios around the world, quite capable of working on multiple titles simultaneously.

@ShogunRok The plan to space out the games was before Ubisoft was bought by Abstergo, though, so it all makes sense when you really think about it.

Aka the best in the franchise. Where ubisoft still cared about the story and the modern day. Couldnt care less about any of the others except for unity and origins which were great(origins) and way less than they shouldve been (unity)

@ShogunRok Presumably, the remakes aren't being made by the core AC devs, so I don't think keeping AC annualized with remakes in off-years would detract from the quality of new entries. There's a different argument to be made with regard to oversaturation, but oversaturation and quality can be achieved simultaneously.

I hear them talk a lot about Assassin’s Creed, but the best game they’ve launched since 2018 was Prince of Persia the Lost Crown.

If they remake the Assassin's Creed 1, the only one inacessible on PS4/5, I will be veery happy!!

@TheTraditional the biggest issue with the 1st game was the side missions in between assassinations , it was pretty much doing the same missions over and over , not really too many different types. but the assassinations themself were the best part of the game. a game like ac4 black flag was more then likely held back since it was on the ps3/360 , along with the ps4 and xb1. so im sure there were things they wanted to add or include they couldn't. does it need a remake no , could it be better of course. i would still play it either way.

If they give the first game a remake, I'd be all for it. I'm not worried about others as I already own several of them. The first one is one of those games I wish I played back when it first came out since I couldn't get through it when I tried to several years ago, and it's not because I'm not a big enough fan of the series.

@Flaming_Kaiser Yeah Syndicate is a good game — I just think the franchise felt tired by then. Not the fault of the game, but the fault of yearly releases I suppose.

@wildcat_kickz True, and Ubisoft's actually big enough to get it done. I do still think it's quite funny how it's remaking the games that oversaturated the franchise in the first place, though. The kind of thing that almost feels like a parody!

This is pretty sad. 7th generation was the last era of new IPs and originality. PS2 and PS3 era are long gone

Where are the titles that would actually be worth remastering such as Splinter Cell Blacklist (released just months before the new gen and crazily never ported) or Rainbow Six Vegas ?!

Ubisoft have lost the plot.

I think the first game is the most aged one of them all in terms of gameplay and mechanics. This is not necessarily a criticism, because it was truly the pilot game for the Ezio trilogy and beyond. But yeah, bringing that game up to to date with some better visuals, newer gameplay mechanics, maybe even adding an open world outside of the three major cities, that could be fun.

Feels more like Assassins Greed these days.

Hey Ubisoft, instead of squeezing blood out of a stone, how about a Rainbow Six Vegas remake?

We’ve still got to see anything about the Splinter Cell remake too.

(I was really looking forward to the Splinter Cell VR game, but you dropped that obviously for the Assassins Creed sausage factory).

Also wondering if it’s possible for Ubisoft to create a whole new franchise & gameplay that isn’t following some trend or reskinning the Watchdogs or Far Cry model these days?

The amount of time the Sands of Time remake is taking doesn't seem to fit this fill the release schedule business as they don't seem to be very quick on that front.

The only ones I’d be interested in would be the original game and it’s PSP sequel Bloodlines. Everything else (excluding DS and mobile) are already available for PS5.

@W0rl0ck i mean they have shadows which was code red , and they also have code hex they are working on which is prob 2025/2026. so they have 2 new games they are releasing / working on.

Honestly. This is so lame. Not only has the remake boom completely sapped creativity, but Ubisoft in general has obky barely changed the formula of theae titles and many would say not for the better. To funnel what many also view as the best game in the series into remakes using current mechanics is not only necessary but may ruin what made the better games in the series great.

The last dev that should churn out remakes is a dev that has milked a formulaic open world design and then dumbed down a series as a whole.

The first AC would need a remake and I think the ezio collection would be nice if it was remade into 1 game, combining all 3 maybe.

I just want the BF remake. I hope they go even deeper on the pirate side of it.

I bet everyone is dreaming of a Black Flag remake with a modern twist to make the game as "good" as skull and bones.

I really stopped hoping for good games from French EA a while back.

Ubisoft are out of original ideas. "Assassin's Creed games [to] come out more regularly"... what does this mean? It feels like there has been one Assassin's Creed game every year since the first. The series lost all it's shine after Black Flag and even then it felt long in the tooth. I see the name and roll my eyes these days. The series should go on a 10 year hiatus.

To be the core series ended with Odyssey and other titles are just side stories rather then part of the main story. Ubisoft is going to keep releasing AC game after AC game since they sell.

Playing the Ezio trilogy again on PS5 (PS4 versions) loved the Ezio saga I don't think any of them need a remake except AC1.

They'll probably add ship battles to them all!

But I got to Black Flag and I couldn't finish it I've had it for PS3 since launch I even pre orders AC3 on PS3 but that ran like crap and I couldn't get into it. So me it ended at the Ezio Trilogy it's were my enjoyment for it was the most

@ShogunRok I played almost no Assassins Creed games and i still thought besides the awsome characters that the game was to much of the same. As i said a a lot of times before remove the boring filler and add the DLC to the game like Jack the Ripper and the game would be so much better.
