Anime Sensation Kaiju No. 8 Getting Game, But No Word on PS5, PS4 1

Smash hit manga-turned-anime Kaiju No. 8, one of the most successful series on the planet right now, is inevitably getting a game – but currently confirmed platforms only include PC and mobile. The adaptation, set to be developed and published by Akatsuki Games, will be free-to-play with in-game (presumably gacha) microtransactions.

There’s no word on what the gameplay will be like, but the source material sees an elite group of trained warriors facing off against kaiju, who frequently attack Tokyo. The protagonist, Kafka Hibino, starts out as a cleaner, responsible for cleansing the city of the fallen kaiju remains. However, he later develops kaiju powers of his own, making him both a target and a priceless ally.

The manga series got its start in 2020, and has amassed 12 volumes at the time of typing. The anime, meanwhile, first aired in April of this year, and has gone on to become a colossal success, spawning a Uniqlo clothing line and much more. There’s no release date attached to then game just yet, but we’d expect more to be announced over the course of the year.
